Marsha Jackson, Southern Sector Rising

Dr. Marsha Jackson is a mother of two daughters and has two grandsons, two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons, and a Shitz Shu furbaby.

Dr. Marsha Jackson is the Executive Director and founder of Southern Sector Rising, a 501C3 nonprofit organization, a full-time Fortune 500 Global company employee, a retired AT&T manager, and peviously a Dallas Area Rapid Transit salary employee for twelve years until 2022. Dr. Jackson is a guest speaker who discusses environmental injustice. She received the 2019 Sierra Club Environmentalist Award, 2020 featured in Soledad O’Brien BET Documentary Disrupt and Dismantle, 2020 Recepient of SMU 55th Symposium Women in Profiles Award, The 2020 Juanita Craft Humanitarian Award, the 2020 Green Source DFW Leadership Environmental Award, 2021 Texas Legislative Black Caucus Outstanding Texan Award, 2021 Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year Finalist Nominee, 2022 AFL CIO Community Champion Award, 2023 A Maceo Smith Social Justice Award, Friendship-West Baptist Church 2024 Betty R. Green for the Vision Nominee, and featured in PBS Dallas, 2019 Part 1 Documentary.

Dr. Jackson also received the Proclamation from Dallas County Commissioners for Marsha Jackson Day in Dallas County on my Birthday, February 22, each year. Currently, she is the Texas Environmental HUB Financial Lead, New Economy Coalition (NEC) General Council Board Representative, Juanita Craft House Civil Rights Museum Board/Membership Chair, Lane Plating EPA Superfund Community Advisory Group member, Women in Transit (WTS) Advisory Board Member, Friendship-West Baptist Church Social Justice member, American Red Cross Disaster Team Member/Shelter Recovery Associate, Dallas County Precinct Chair, Volunteer Deputy Registrar, and a Texas Notary. Dr. Jackson was previously the New Economy Coalition (NEC) Board Co-Chair and Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter Women in Transit (WTS) Board Secretary.

Dr. Jackson holds a Doctorate in Public Administration, a Master’s in Business Administration with Concentration in Human Resource Certification, a Graduate HRM Certificate, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business with a Concentration in Management.
